Mortgage rates won’t return to pre-2022 rates — but most forecasts envision a modest decline occurring through 2026. Fannie Mae forecasts the 30-year fixed mortgage rate to settle at approximately 6.2% at the end of 2026, modestly below recent mid-6% highs.
