Sadly, when it comes to recapturing that essence, developers in LA dropped the ball long ago. Sure, they crank out ever more opulent glass boxes with floor plans to rival shopping malls, but they all just seem so… soulless. Cold. Tacky. Take your pick.
Don’t get me wrong, having walls of glass that whirr open with the wave of a hand and invisible fireplaces is pretty damn cool. I get it, I do. But let’s face it, these places are about as charming as last year’s iphone. Worse, they’re going to start looking dated and sad just as quickly.
